Summer Term Update 2

1st May 2020

It has been 6 weeks since the closing of schools and everyone needs to be applauded for juggling everything they are doing whilst in lockdown.  As a school, we are here to support children and families, so please use the contact details below if you have any concerns or need any advice. If you wish to share some kind messages or photographs of the things the children have been up to, you can send them to the school email or directly to the class teacher or Mr Evans.

We continue to provide an emergency childcare facility for critical workers. If you need any advice regarding this service, please contact the school.

We will await news from the Government who will decide when schools open. We will keep you informed via text and the website.

The wellbeing of our children and families remains our priority. This time will be affecting everyone differently and our overriding message continues to be stay safe, stay well and stay happy.  A reminder of where you can find suggestions for home learning activities. For Nursery through to year 4, go to the ‘Classrooms’ and ‘Home Learning’ pages on the school website http://www.waunarlwydd.swansea.sch.uk/. Years 5 and 6 will find suggestions on the OneDrive by logging into their HWB accounts. Please remember that these are suggested activities and are not intended to cause any stress. If you have any concerns about home learning, including access to devices or wifi, please let us know.Free school meals will be delivered every Monday. If you have any concerns regarding FSM please contact the school or Mr Evans.

You should all have received the email address of your child’s teacher if you need any advice regarding home learning. The school phone line is open during school hours and the school’s main email address can be found on the website. Alternatively, if you have any concerns at all, you can contact Mr Evans directly: evansj737@hwbcymru.net

Thank you all for your continued support!

Stay safe, stay well and stay happy.

Easter Update

We hope everyone is safe and well.

Thank you and well done for supporting your children so well with their home learning activities, you’re doing a great job! Thank you also for all the photos and emails that we have received relating to home learning, they really do brighten up each day for us! Please note that there will be no new home learning during the Easter Holidays, but of course the children can use the wealth of Easter activities and ideas which have been posted on class web pages, one drive or twitter. New ideas for home learning will be posted for the week beginning 2oth April.

Stay safe!

Emergency Childcare Update

EMERGENCY CHILDCARE

As the crisis progresses we will be reviewing our emergency childcare provision after Easter, from April 20th. Remember, UK and Welsh Government message remains the same: your child is safer at home. Unless it is absolutely essential and you really have no other option, this is where they must stay.

However, if your circumstances meet the criteria then please apply for an emergency childcare place using the attached form. Please note, the recently published revised key worker list is a guide for prioritising emergency places. It is not a list of entitlement. These settings are being run by volunteers and we want them to be available for as long as possible, so please help us to help you.

Free School Meals

Remember, if your child is entitled to free school meals they are available for collection from the school, or a school nearer to you, Monday to Friday, after 12.30.

If your children are entitled to free school meals and would like a ‘Grab and Go’ bag please complete this form and click the ‘submit’ button at the end.

Criw Cymraeg Senedd Update

We’re working really hard to gain our Siarter Iaith Bronze Award. Our Welsh buddies are working really hard on both yards. St David’s Day was a huge success. The work produced for our eisteddfod was fantastic. A big congratulations to all the winners. Our Criw Cymraeg have visited Crwys School and Pennard School to share ideas. Thanks to both schools for welcoming us. We learnt alot!

Curriculum Senedd Update

After a successful Outdoor Classroom Day, we decided to focus on how we can improve our outdoor learning zones.

We have listed items we think could improve the zones and have made a wish list with prices. We have already planned how we can turn our small park into a calm zone with outdoor activities.

We’ve also designed outdoor activities to trial with foundation Phase children and we really enjoyed working with the younger children.
