Healthy Schools Senedd

The Healthy Schools Senedd group have been busy helping out with the nursery sports day.

During healthy week they sent home the healthy lunchbox leaflet they had designed to inform parents.

They are also working hard to create zones in the KS2 playground which promote a healthy body and mind.

Song of the Week

Chosen this week by Keira, Emilia and Freya. We have chosen ‘A Million Dreams’ from the Greatest Showman because it is inspirational song that encourages people to keep on trying. We hope you like it too!

Website of the week

Reviewed by Harley, Finley and Alex. We have played ‘Hit the Button’. We think it is a great website as it is fun and it helps you learn maths. You can choose different areas to practise as well as well as the level of difficulty. It helps you remember number facts quickly and so will help you when you are older. Why not give it a go?

Pupil News:

Well, it’s been an amazing fortnight in Waunarlwydd. Last week, the boys football team played wonderfully well and beat Parkland Primary 6-1 in a thrilling match. On Thursday of last week the Year 6 netball team, who had already won the cluster schools netball tournament, came 3rd in the whole of the Swansea area. What an achievement!

This week,  the athletics team performed well in the indoor competition on Wednesday and also on Wednesday, the choir put on a superb performance and had the whole crowd clapping along when they performed. To top it off, the Year 4/5 football team came 2nd in the Gorseinon College football tournament, narrowly losing out 1-0 in the final match. Well done  in particular to Adam who scored 6 goals!!

Song of the Week:

Finley, Harley, Lewis and Alex have chosen the Welsh national anthem because it represents our country, especially after winning the grand slam!

We have been reviewing SpellBlast on J2, which can be accessed on Hwb. It was a fun way to practise spellings but you had to be quick so it was quite hard. We think the more you practise though, the better you will get!! – Luke, Hallie, Tia and Hollie

Book Reviews:

Keira: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J.K. Rowling. I have rated this book 9 out of 10.  It is really intriguing and interesting. It is written as a play script which makes it a little bit different. I would recommend it to anyone over the age of 8 as it is a little scary at times.

Emilia: The Naughtiest Girl Collection by Enid Blyton. I have rated this book 7 out of 10 as I’m enjoying but I haven’t finished it yet. I would recommend it to children over 8, both boys and girls.

Freya: Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Cabin Fever by Jeff Kinney. I have rated this book 9 out of 10 as it is really funny.
