Friday 18th June
Another week of happy learning in Waunarlwydd. ‘T’ week in Nursery has seen the children having great fun following a trail made of twigs, searching for objects beginning with T and ending up in the ratty tunnels. Our Reception children have been busy finding out about parts of a plant, what each part does and what a plant needs to grow. More dinosaur discoveries in year 1 this week with fact finding, sorting, making dinosaur shapes and even dinosaur addition. There has been lots of learning about caring for the environment in year 2, as well as team challenges in preparation for sports day. Caterpillar update – they’ve started making chrysalis!
Year 3 and 4 have enjoyed learning about predators and have been working hard on calculating monetary amounts to budget for a party. They’ve used their creativity to design and make animals using clay and have also started developing their animation skills using J2E. Super work!
The highlight in Year 5 and 6 have has been finding out about extinct animals and recycling by taking a rollercoaster ride through Minecraft (roles were reversed as Ms Williams had to put her hand up to ask for help). Children have also enjoyed designing and planting their own flower beds, creating collages to depict the physical geography of Wales and challenging themselves with their pattern designs using rotational symmetry. All in all, another fantastic week. Well done everyone!
Huge congratulations to Mrs Wallace on the birth of baby George! I’m sure everyone will join in wishing her the very best as she enjoys precious time with her family! We can’t wait to meet him!
